Which Decennial file do I need?
PL 94-171 (Redistricting File) — Released ~6 months after Census Day. Contains total population and Voting Age Population (VAP) by race for every geography down to the block. Legally mandated for legislative redistricting. This is the file behind CensusGo's VAP and Redistricting tools.  ·  DHC (Demographic and Housing Characteristics) — The 2020 replacement for SF1. Released ~2 years after Census Day. Contains detailed age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, and housing data. The general-purpose Decennial file for demographic research.  ·  SF1 (2010) — The 2010 equivalent of DHC. Useful when historical comparison to 2010 is required.
